How to read the table

  • Soft 17: “Stands” is better for you than “Hits”; it lowers the house edge by about 0.2%.
  • Double after split, surrender and resplit aces: each “Yes” is a player-friendly rule.
  • House edge: the casino’s advantage over a player using perfect basic strategy. Lower is better.
  • Tables: how many tables were spreading that game when the survey was taken.

Casino notes

  • Venetian: Many reports of over-zealous security.
  • Wynn Las Vegas: Shares player data with advantage-player databases. Stand-17 game sometimes $100 when it is quiet.
  • Encore: Shares player data with advantage-player databases.
  • Treasure Island: Known to bar advantage players quickly. Minimums may rise at weekends.
  • The STRAT: Dealers keep their own tips. Shares player data with advantage-player databases. Mid-shoe entry capped at $200.
  • Sahara: Known to bar advantage players quickly. Shares player data with advantage-player databases. Double deck open only at weekends, in the high-limit room.
  • Resorts World: Known to bar advantage players quickly. Shares player data with advantage-player databases. Double-deck minimum sometimes $50 on weekdays.

What’s changed

The Stratosphere is now The STRAT, and the former SLS is the Sahara. Resorts World (2021) and Fontainebleau (2023) are new since our last survey. Circus Circus doesn’t appear in the January 2025 survey.

Source: the Wizard of Vegas blackjack survey (January 2025 data, compiled with BJ21.com). The survey lists 3:2 games only. Most low-limit tables on the Strip now pay 6:5 on a blackjack, which roughly quadruples the house edge, so we leave them out. Rules and minimums change often: check with the casino before you sit down.
